OUR VISION

There are an estimated 33,000 villages located throughout the Amazon River basin with over 1.5 million people literally living at the water’s edge. Approximately sixty different mission organizations are working in the Amazon to bring the good news of the gospel, however, few venture beyond the 186-mile radius where many of the unreached remain. AVM is one of the few and longest standing ministries that does.

We are a dedicated group of individuals who have discovered an open door for the gospel message among the Ribeirinho (river) people. The overarching vision of Amazon Vision Ministries is to establish communities of followers of Christ worshiping together and serving in ministry and missions in the west Amazon Basin and beyond.

AVM focuses on evangelism and discipleship but also provides medical, dental, and other means of physical help to meet immediate needs, just as Jesus demonstrated. Our mission is the glorification of God among the nations, and we exist to facilitate the work of fellow believers as they join us in this task on the Amazon.

The foundation for our purpose is found in the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

As Christians, it is our non-negotiable responsibility to share the truth of the gospel and train believers to continue to do the same. Thus, we fervently strive to carry out this command in a region hungry for the hope of Christ.

I believe Amazon Vision Ministries is one of the most viable, exciting, and aggressive mission movements of my ministerial life! This is a ministry worthy of support. It is built on vision and integrity.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to bring the hope of Christ to the people living in the west Amazon basin of Brazil.

Relationships are at the heart of the Ribeirinho culture and are even more essential to the indigenous tribes in the far west Amazon basin of Brazil. Sadly, the people there feel largely neglected by their own government, so they very quickly see something unique in the bonds formed with our team members.

In addition to providing medical, dental, and optical care, we often help around their homes, join in soccer games, or even go fishing with the people in the community as a way to learn from them and open the door for ministry opportunities. These are incredible individuals and we take the time necessary to get to know them personally and show them God’s love.

As we build these foundational relationships with the people, our mission is to bring the hope of Christ to the people living in the west Amazon basin of Brazil, disciple believers, and help them to establish spiritual leaders and New Testament churches to replicate our work in other places along the river.

To do this, we train existing believers in the villages how they can grow in the Word through home Bible study groups using a multiplying method of discipleship called T4T (Training 4 Trainers). We firmly believe that every believer must take up their cross daily and share the gospel with others, and exist to empower them to do just that.

AVM works in conjunction with local pastors who can visit the villages throughout the year and continue to encourage growth in-between our team visits. Furthermore, we have partnered with Leadership Outreach Network to provide essential pastoral training and foundational teaching to new believers.
